The City of Rochester is seeking an experienced, innovative professional for the position of Deputy Emergency Management Director.
This is an exceptional career opportunity for a seasoned emergency management professional to organize, develop and lead a critical operation of the City.
The City of Rochester is located in southeastern Minnesota with a population of over 100,000, a land area of over 54 square miles, and is the third largest city in the State of Minnesota.
The City of Rochester's Emergency Management Division develops plans and programs that maintain a state of readiness to meet natural, man-made, or technological disasters within the City of Rochester. The Division also coordinates training and exercises required by the state and federal government and assures compliance with reporting requirements.
The Deputy Emergency Management Director will manage the development, execution and ongoing evaluation of emergency management and preparedness strategies and programs for the City of Rochester.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Administration or a related field and three years (3) experience in managing an emergency management program in private industry, the military, city, county, state or federal government.
CITIZENSHIP
United States citizen
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Minnesota driver's license or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of appointment.
State of Minnesota Emergency Management certification or an equivalent current or former certification from another state or possess a national Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification.
State of Minnesota Emergency Management certification with the State of MN Homeland Security Division within one year of appointment. National emergency manager certification within two years of appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Initial and continued employment is contingent upon passing an indepth background investigation and maintaining the appropriate security clearance.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree and five (5) years professional emergency management and homeland security experience working at or above the level of a deputy director.
Experience administering national and state homeland security grant programs. |
